Alabaster Box

“… And you don’t know the cost Of the oil in my alabaster box…” In her song, Alabaster Box, CeCe Winans refers to Luke 7:36-50, the story of the prostitute who washes the feet of Jesus, first with her tears, and then with precious, fragrant oil. What a risk she took! First, she dared to enter the home of a religious leader, knowing she was a social outcast, unclean and unfaithful. Then she cried in public – I hate it when I do that! And finally, she poured herself out in worship, not caring what others thought or said. And why? Why would she forsake the pride and denial that had served her well to do those things? Because, as Jesus tells us, the one who has been forgiven much, loves much.

Repenting and believing -- just like breathing out and breathing in. As long as we're alive, it's a never ending cycle.
